The Boeing 737-200 was the beginning of economical jet air travel. In its day-- the 60's and 70's-- the Boeing 737-200 was used by almost every airlilne then flying. Today it is being retired from many fleets, being parked in airplane graveyards or broken up. But many are still flying. No virtual flight sim hangar would be complete without a Boeing 737-200, and here are two with high quality visuals and flight performance.
Kitty Hawk
Aircraft type: Boeing 737-200, by Eric Cantu, Mike Baumann, Philip Foglar. Originally released by Freeflight Design Group (SGA/FFX), this aircraft was later redesigned and considerably enhanced by veteran designer Eric Cantu and released with a flight dynamics file by Mike Baumann. Updated again by Philip Foglar to improve the airplane's ground contact configuration, it reached the final form seen above. There are many texture sets that can be used with the aircraft. The Cantu 737-200 has fewer texture files in the texture folder than earlier FFX versions, so be careful when trying to use other FFX 737-200 textures with the Cantu version. They're not the same. Also, note that the Cantu version of the 737-series planes are often identified with the trademark "Kitty Hawk."Recommended panel: panel_b737-200_fs2004.zip
Finding a good panel for the 737-200 is not easy. This suggestion is a compromise, offering the "steam-powered" analog gauges of the type, and not overloading you with modern features the old plane did not have. However, for accuracy, you cannot beat the Tinmouse panel and aircraft, even though they are more work to fly.Recommended sound: ar732sndv1.zip
The Tinmouse aircraft sounds may appeal to some users more than this sound set, but if you don't have the Tinmouse, this sound set has been tuned to evoke the high-pitched sounds so familiar to older folks who used to fly on the 737-200. It's a very realistic-sounding sound set.
